He had very good dogs and there was a very good chance that he would have won the race, his trial brief said. Because winning the race is not a certainty, Seavey intends to ask the jury to award the average of his race winnings as described above. In his deposition, Seavey said he was seeking some fair compensation for not being able to finish the Iditarod for 2011,” a race eventually won by John Baker of Kotzebue in record time. When you say fair compensation, Im not sure what you mean by that, the lawyerfor the company said during a deposition on Nov. 29, 2012 in Anchorage. Millions and millions of dollars, Seavey responded, apparently joking. He went on to say he was seeking tens of thousands of dollars — or what he might have collected had he won the race or finished near the top.

Theres the blade, which comes in carbon or stainless steel. Then theres the shaped handle, which is almost always beech. Finally, theres the locking mechanism, which keeps the knife locked open or closed and pretty much makes it as easy and safe to use as a fixed-blade knife. To start with, I love this knife for its looks. Who wouldnt be drawn to the curved blade, the sculpted wood and the neat little collar lock? It probably didnt hurt that I was given it during a visit to France, where I used it for cheese and fruit and bread every day. But hidden inside this traditional design is a great knife.

Airports see increase in credit card knives at TSA checkpoints – The Orange County Register

, COURTESY OF TSA Related article Officials from the Transportation Security Administration were reminding airline passengers on Monday to remove pocket knives and other prohibited items before they go through airport security checkpoints. On the TSAs website, officials said airports have seen an increase in credit card knives being confiscated at security checks. Credit card knives are roughly the shape and size of credit card and can fit easily inside a wallet. The knives are not illegal, but they are prohibited in carry-on bags and must be stored in checked baggage, officials said. TSA officials said 45 credit card knives were discovered last week at airports in cities including Long Beach, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Nashville, Tenn., Kansas City, Mo., Tampa, Fla, and St. Louis. TSA spokesman Nico Melendez said a credit card knife was just confiscated on Sunday from a JetBlue passenger at the Long Beach Airport.
