HOW TO PICK A GOOD CARVING POCKET KNIFE

http://www.arleenscarverswoodshop.blogspot.com about how to know if a knife is good and some tips in finding a good pocket knife.

india asked what is the best brand for fold type pocket knife in India?

please point me the best branded fold type pocket knife available in India. The knife is only for my safety purpose only. I need long lost one.

And got the following answer:

See if you can find benchmade, gerber, sog,or kershaw over there theres probably an indian distributorb for at least one of these companies. Benchmade’s the best of the bunch.

Sam asked Who is the best pocket knife brand maker but isnt horribly expensive?

Im a boyscout and Im looking at assist open knives the only person Ive looked at is sports authority(the woodsmen spring assisted tan pocket knife) and crkt(delegate) i like the delegates look but i cant find one that inexpensive so i was wondering some of you guys could help me out. I would love websites and links and pictures and all that.

And got the following answer:

Well, Buck knives are made in the USA and are a supporter of Scouts on all levels. They are a quality brand and unless you lose the knife, it will serve you a lifetime.

Their 110 model is a classic and hard to beat for utility. Not sure why you think an assist open is needed, but I believe they have those too.

Shelby asked What are good pocket knife brands?

awes0meneSS asked What are some good pocket knife brands and good knife brands?

i want to know some good pocket knife brands and ood knives

And got the following answer:

First that comes to my mind is:
Chris Reev
Syderco
BenchMade

Look at the steel alloy and Hardness (e.g. 60-62HRC – Rockwell Hardness Test ) the higher the number the tougher the blade – stays sharper longer, but more difficult to sharpen.
You need to decide what the knife for and how you going to use it.
——
Remember – how to keep a knife sharp? Don’t let it get blunt!

alf87 asked What is the best brand for a pocket knife and how can I pick a good one my husband will like w/o him knowing?

Our wedding anniversary is coming up and I would like to get my husband a pocket knife. What is the best brand? Preferably one I can customize. So far all i’ve seen is Buck that customizes. Whatever the outcome how can I make sure he’ll like the looks of it without asking him?

And got the following answer:

Kershaw EZ-out, real popular and a great knife in my opinion. Don’t know about the customizing though.

SuperFlyMomma asked What is a good pocket knife brand to buy for my husband?

I’d like to buy him a nice pocket knife as part of his fathers day present. I heard someone say if you buy a specific brand you can get a lifetime replacement warranty on the blade, but I cannot remember what the brand name was….so i’d definitely like to buy one with a warranty like that. Any advice or help would be great, thanks.

And got the following answer:

I can’t believe no one has mentioned anything worth a flip ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously, You can not go wrong with a “Benchmade” or “Gerber.” These two companies made some of the best knives around in my opinion. If your hubby is a DIYer, look into a Gerber Multi Tool and if he likes a nice folder for working, looking into their knives. I carry both a Gerber folder and Multi Tool. Now if he likes tactical cool gear, check out Benchmade. A lot of Law Enforcement as well as Military will carry a Benchmade. You can typically find either one at your local gun dealer or sporting goods store.

Here is a link to Benchmade’s site for ideas.

Im just wanting to get him a good quality knife that he can use on a daily basis and Where shouldI i look? Any ideas?

And got the following answer:

Personally I like Case knifes. They are durable and hold an edge well. I have cleaned lots of deer with my Amber Bone Hunter Trapper model. http://www.wrcase.com/sidesearch/index.php?q=hunter+trapper&Submit=Search
