He reportedly had a standard pocket knife and used it against the upper classman. He charged him, so he tried to stab him in the chest, but he had slit him on the arm back here, Giavani said. The senior was cut twice. He was treated by paramedics on campus and released to his parents. Students said it was chaos. Gotta get up outta here. Gotta go, Giavani said. Martha Flores added, It was crazy. Nobody knew what was going. They said it was good, but it really wasnt good. This was the second notification parents got Friday morning about trouble on campus. Credit card-like folding knife seized at courthouse – Dothan Eagle: News

Charmelle Henry, 45, remains in the Midland County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after her arrest Saturday. Bail was set at $100,000. Workers at a small food stand say Henry became enraged after she ordered a 75-cent corn dog Friday night and was handed a microwaved meat stick. She demanded an uncooked corn dog and threatened the lives of store workers as they tried to serve her, they said. She flashed a pocket-knife a knife and began stabbing the counter.

Its the same reason you carry a pocket knife, but you just cant bring it in the courthouse. Carlisle said deputies seize a variety of items not allowed into the courthouse as people try to enter the building through the metal detector. We run into just about anything you could think of in that courthouse, Carlisle said. Its not unusual for us to come across a 6 or 8-inch-long nail, all kinds of box cutters and screw drivers. Carlisle said deputies also even seized a metal fork someone had in their pocket as they entered the courthouse. If its taken, it is not returned, and we dispose of the items, Carlisle said.

Midland police say knife-wielding Carrollton woman flew into rage over corn dog | Dallas Morning News

The incident in question refers to a 3rd grade student with a history of very poor behavior well known by other students, teachers and parents, including issues with physical & violent aggression towards other students over the years in the classroom. This student brought a pocket knife to school, the teacher confiscated it but the Superintendent and the Board are refusing parents requests that the child be removed from the classroom and given the special attention that this child needs. While we are relieved the situation did not escalate any further we are increasingly concerned regarding the safety and welfare of our children. What is also concerning is the passive, nonchalant attitude of Dr. Hinz, the District Superintendent. Instead of being sensitive to the concerns of the parents the attitude became defensive with several parents, after contacting the school, being told if they were uncomfortable, you can remove your child from the classroom or the school. We as parents, concerned for our children, looking for support, found the Superintendent and Board to be extremely insensitive, negligent, irresponsible and deficient regarding corrective actions and concerns for the welfare of our children. We find this attitude completely unacceptable and not conducive to a zero tolerance policy that is necessary in these situations. We also find them negligent with regards to our concerns as parents.
