A charge of attempted murder had been dropped by the prosecution in May. The charges stemmed from an April 19 incident. Ladouceurs live-in girlfriend walked into the North Adams Police Station that morning, telling police that Ladouceur assaulted her and that he could be hurting himself. During the dispute, Ladouceur allegedly punched and broke a television and stabbed a wall with knives, in addition to assaulting the woman by both strangulation and punching her in the stomach. Police officers from North Adams, Clarksburg, and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Police all responded to in the incident and investigated the apartment.
