Amanda Seyfried accidentally smuggles Swiss Army knife onto plane, tweets to TSA

Jordan Wiser, a student at Ashtabula County Technical School in Jefferson, is finishing up his senior year from home Fox News says, after school officials searched his car in December and reportedly found the folding knife and an Airsoft gun. School officials called police, who charged him with illegal conveyance of a weapon onto a school ground based on the three-inch knife. Fox News says Wiser, an EMT trainee who says he hopes to become a police officer and a soldier, spent 13 days in the Ashtabula County Jail following the incident. The knife, which Wiser said is part of his first responder’s kit and can be used for slicing an accident victim’s seatbelt, was found tucked inside his EMT medical vest in the trunk of the car.

Amanda Seyfried boarded a plane Friday, March 14, with a knife in her pocket. Security didn’t catch on to it and she hadn’t realized it until she was already on the plane. The “Lovelace” actress then tweeted TSA with a message so these scary situations won’t repeat themselves: Dear TSA: This Swiss Army knife wasn’t detected through security and I unknowingly carried it on board. Scary! pic.twitter.com/C996LjZa2P Amanda Seyfried (@AmandaSeyfried) March 14, 2014 In March of last year, TSA announced it will allow retractable knives (with blades shorter then 2.4 inches and narrower than .5 inches at the widest point) in carry-on bags starting April 2013.

Ironically, at his rural Ohio school, kids get caught with pocket knives all the time Wiser told The Post, but theyre only suspended. Thus, a petition that sprang up afterwards calling for a reduction of charges to a misdemeanor garnered a quick 1,349 signatures and inflamed Harold Specht, Chief Assistant Prosecutor for Ashtabula County. Theres a load of people that think were the devil because were allegedly ruining this young kids life, but thats not the case, he responded. The felony charge is justified and there are no plans to reduce the charge. Wiser, however, reads the reality differently. If I am convicted of a felony, Im never going to be a police officer, Im never going to be a fireman, Im never going to be in the military, I wont even be able to be a janitor, he lamented.
