7. The Campaign for the Accurate Measurement of Creativity Almost 400 backers pledged nearly $13,000 for a Mason jar with a pencil sharpener affixed to the bottom of the lid. The contraption measures creativity by the pencil shavings left in the jar — the busier the artist, the fuller the jar. Project creator Craighton Berman clearly needed a more accurate device to measure demand for such a tool; his initial goal was a measly $2,500.
